Please contact the
center on any day your child will not be attending. If your
child is absent due to illness, please let us know ASAP so
we can inform the other parents.

Weather-Related Closings
If Bloomington Public Schools are
forced to close or delay, so will Hillcrest. (e.g., If
Bloomington schools open two hours late, so will the Hillcrest
Center.)
The announcement for Bloomington
Public Schools is broadcast on WCCO Radio (830 AM). Click here to subscribe to have Bloomington Schools send you emergency
announcements via email.
If Hillcrest should be forced to
close during the day (for weather or other emergencies), you
will be called to pick up your child. If you cannot be
contacted, the persons listed as your emergency contacts will
be called. We understand the problems for parents and staff
associated with sudden closings. However, we do ask that
parents make every effort to pick up their child as quickly as
possible.
 Transportation & Safety
When you bring your child to the
center, please sign your name and phone number for the week on
the roster. It is necessary for parents to sign in and out
each day.
The center needs to be notified in
advance who is authorized to pick up your child from the
center. If a person not recognized by Hillcrest staff arrives
to pick up a child, the child will not be released
without prior written authorization or until telephone
authorization has been obtained.
We request that no toy weapons be
brought to school. If a child brings a toy from home, please
remember that we cannot be responsible for its safe
keeping.

Health Policies
-
Immunization
records must be current and confirmed by the parent or
doctor before a child can attend.
-
If your
child becomes ill or a health problem is suspected while
at the center, you will be called immediately to pick up
your child. He/she will be separated from the rest of the
group on a cot. It is important to arrange interim care
ahead of time in the event that it is necessary for your
child to stay home.
Before returning to the center, a child should be well for
24 hours. This means no vomiting or diarrhea, and a
temperature below 100 degree Fahrenheit (oral temperature
below 101 degrees).
-
No
medications, oral or topical, will be administered by the
staff unless the center receives a written request form
from the child's parent or doctor. All medications must be
in their original containers.
During the summer months, parents may bring sunscreen
and/or insect repellant for their child's use. A
permission slip must be signed by the parents before these
items are administered.
-
Our Infant
Program is visited each month by a Public Health Nurse. If
you have any questions or concerns you would like
addressed by the Nurse, please let the Infant Staff
know.
-
If the
children attending Hillcrest are exposed to a communicable
disease, the parents will be informed in writing. A notice
will be posted on the parent board in their child's room
as well.
